Preparing for your tattoo appointment.
Tattoo Prep Guide
Getting a tattoo isn’t just about showing up—it’s about preparing your skin and body so the process goes smoothly and your tattoo heals beautifully. Here’s what you need to do before your appointment to make sure you (and your skin) are ready.
The Week Before:
✔ Stay Hydrated – Well-hydrated skin takes ink better and heals faster. Drink plenty of water leading up to your appointment.
✔ Moisturize Daily – Keep your skin soft and healthy by applying fragrance-free lotion every day (but skip lotion on the day of your appointment).
✔ Avoid Sunburns & Damage – If your skin is sunburned, peeling, or irritated, I won’t be able to tattoo you. Keep your skin protected.
✔ No Major Skin Treatments – Avoid chemical peels, heavy exfoliation, or anything that could make your skin extra sensitive.
✔ Get your supplies - Some handy items I recommend grabbing before your appointment day.
Unscented liquid soap - Dial is easy to find. My favorite is Dr. Bronner’s Unscented baby castile soap.
Plastic cling wrap - For wrapping your tattoo while you sleep for the first few days.
Tattoo ointment - For healing your tattoo for the first few days. My favorite is Hustle Butter, but many brands work great.
Unscented lotion - After about 3-4 days, you will want to switch from ointment to lotion.
Paper towels - For drying your tattoo.

24 Hours Before:
✔ Get a Good Night’s Sleep – Being well-rested helps your body handle the process better.
✔ Eat a Good Meal – Low blood sugar can make you feel lightheaded or dizzy, so have a solid meal before coming in.
✔ Drink Water (But Not Alcohol) – Water = good. Alcohol = bad. Drinking alcohol the night before can stress out your body and make the tattoo process harder. You want your body to focus on healing your tattoo. Not processing alcohol.

On the Day of Your Appointment:
✔ Shower & Wear Clean Clothes – Hygiene matters, especially for longer sessions.
✔ Dress Comfortably – Wear something that allows easy access to the area getting tattooed. Dark or older clothing is best in case of ink stains.
✔ Bring Snacks & Water – For longer sessions, it’s good to have something to keep your energy up.
✔ Be on Time (or Let Me Know If You’re Running Late) – A heads-up is always appreciated!
✔ Avoid Excess Caffeine – Too much coffee or energy drinks can make you jittery and more sensitive to pain.
✔ Relax! – Nerves are normal, but trust the process. We’ll take care of you.
